The Talk scored its most-watched week in over a year, thanks to the cast of The Young and The Restless. During the week of March 20, the show dedicated all five days to honoring the 50th anniversary of the soap opera. Each day featured different cast members. The week averaged 1.64 million viewers per episode, which is the highest since the week of Jan. 31, 2022. That week featured guests including Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph, Lacey Chabert and, fittingly, another The Young and The Restless actor, Eric Braeden.

The CBS soap began on March 26, 1973. As it celebrates its 50th anniversary this month, it also lays claim to being the No. 1 daytime drama for 35 consecutive years. The CBS daytimer hit a 0.9 among women 25-54, beating longtime No. 1 and sister show The Young and the Restless’ 0.8. In actually sheer audience, that’s 530,000 for B&B to 507,0000 for Y&R.

Two longtime soaps, CBS’s Young and the Restless and ABC’s General Hospital, lead the Daytime Emmy Award nominations announced today. The May 1 awards ceremony, however, will not broadcast on TV. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has nixed plans for a telecast of the ceremony because of the cost.
The network receives 61 nominations, with its The Young and the Restless receiving 26, the most of any daytime show. The 41st annual Daytime Emmys will be presented June 22 in Beverly Hills.
