Nexstar To Broadcast New Year’s Eve Special

Nexstar Media Group and Dallas NBC O&O KXAS today announced the broadcast details for Lone Star NYE: Countdown to 2024, a New Year’s Eve program airing Dec. 31 from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. CT. The program will air on KXAS and an additional 23 Nexstar stations across six states.

The program will be hosted by Katy Blakey of KXAS and D.J. Williams of KARK Little Rock, Ark., live from the lawn just south of Reunion Tower in Dallas, and will feature special musical guests, Bowling for Soup, Vandoliers and Bri Bagwell, along with the traditional Dallas Lone Star NYE at Reunion Tower fireworks, light and drone spectacular.

Lone Star NYE: Countdown to 2024 will include the Lone Star NYE at Reunion Tower live fireworks spectacular presented by Hunt Realty Investments, Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Reunion Tower, with KXAS and Nexstar serving as official media sponsors.

This year, spectators will experience a 300-drone light show as part of the annual presentation of panoramic fireworks and tower light show, including more than 5,000 pyrotechnic special effects fired from Reunion Tower and the 259 LED light display. The drone light show, engineered and flown by DFW-based Sky Elements, will light up the sky at heights of up to 700 feet and create an array of visual elements and an immersive experience never seen before above the Dallas skyline.

Texas punk pop band, Bowling for Soup, will headline this year’s celebration as it prepares to observe its 30th anniversary in 2024.

This year’s production on NBC 5 will also stream live on NBC Dallas Fort Worth News – the 24/7 local news streaming channel available on leading streaming and connected platforms – NBCDFW.com, and on the NBCDFW app that is available for mobile and streaming users. To stream, viewers must search “NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, NBC 5 DFW” in the app store for their phone, tablet, Roku, Fire or Apple TV; download the app, and they’ll then be able to access “Lone Star NYE 2024.” Mobile users can download the free “NBC 5 DFW” app from iTunes and Google Play stores.
