News Leaders Focus On Journalist Protection, Stress In Fraught ’24
Top news executives from Tegna, Hearst Television, Spectrum News and The Weather Channel told a NewsTECHForum panel last week that safety, security, mental-health services and higher pay are all top prerogatives in a more dangerous and stressful newsroom environment.
Spectrum Networks is planning to use its U.S. footprint to report national news. Led by Sam Singal, Spectrum Networks’ VP of editorial and content, Spectrum’s team of journalists will report on national news and its impact on Spectrum’s communities. It has named Spectrum News NY1 journalist Annika Pergament a national anchor who will anchor the breaking news or national content.
NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt executive producer Sam Singal has stepped down from his role on the evening newscast. Singal’s No. 2, Nightly News senior broadcast producer Jennifer Suozzo, will take over on an interim basis.
